Uterine Fibroids Threapy

Uterine fibroids otherwise known as myoma are benign tumors growing from the muscle layers of the uterus.
They are solid tumors made of fibrous tissue,slow in growth and sometimes without symptoms.
Fibroids do vary in sizes,it could be single or multiple in number.

Types of Uterine Fibroids
There are different types of fibroid depending on its location.
*Subserous fibroids-This type of fibroid grows on the outer wall of the uterus.
*Intramural fibroids-Grows within the uterine wall.
*Interligamentous fibroids-Found around the abdominal region.
*Penduncalated and the parasitic
*Cervical fibroids-This grows at the neck of the womb.

Symptoms of Fibroids

*Abnormal bleeding
*Menstrual pains
*Frequent urination
*Heavy and severe periods
*Back ache
*Abdominal discomfort.

Diagnose & Treatment of Fibroids

Competently done by a physician called Gynecologist.The use of ultrasound scan for diagnosis is common.Cases of fibroids does not call for treatment except instances of severe symptoms.
Various kinds of surgery are available in dealing with fibroids cases.They are;
*Hysterectomy-A type of surgery whereby the entire uterus is removed.It is commended for women who have completed child bearing.
*Myomectomy-In this case,only the fibroid is removed leaving the uterus behind for the purpose of bearing children.
*Hormonal therapy-The use of oral contraceptive pills just to manage the symptoms.
Uterine artery embolization-This is an interventional radiological techniques.An interventional approach aim at hindering blood supply to the fibroid.
